On Licensing and Web Fonts.
February 3rd, 2010 by James Puckett
Dunwich Type Founders have changed the way we license fonts. So far we have licensed fonts under a single license that covers both desktop use and per-domain web server installations. In recent months several web font services have been launched that offer a better licensing models. Designers have responded positively to web font services, and we personally believe that these services are better than the hybrid license we have been using.
The Dunwich Type Founders EULA now applies only to desktop use, and licenses are sold in the simple 1–5 license format that designers are used to. Web licensing of DTF fonts is being handled by FontSpring at a much lower cost than the hybrid license offered.
